shops that ship software are bad at marketing themselves. cobalt is a template that admits the work is technical. code blocks have language tags, copy buttons, and line numbers when you want them. architecture diagrams render with proper captions.
the case study layout is the heart of it. it has slots for the problem, the constraint, the approach, the outcome, the numbers, and the lessons. all six. you can leave any out, but the layout still works.
i used cobalt for two of my own engineering write-ups before shipping. the structure forced me to write better case studies. that is a side effect i did not expect and now consider a feature.
