a catalog of a hundred products needs filters that work. crate ships filters that work. brand, size, color, price band, in-stock-only, all client-side, all keyboard accessible, none of them load a new page.
category landing pages are real pages. you can write a paragraph for each category. you can pin three products to the top of any category. the pinned slots survive sort changes because that is what you would expect.
i built crate after spending a month inside the analytics of a real shop with a real catalog. the filters are the ones people actually used. the rest is removed.
