i kept stripping until there was nothing left to strip. the first draft had a hero block, a featured grid, a footer carousel. all of it gone. what is left is one column, a wide measure for body text, and projects that load as full pages instead of thumbnails fighting for attention.
a portfolio is a place where the work has to do the talking. ornament gets in the way. the type does almost all of the work in linework, with a long serif for headlines and a quiet sans for body. links are underlined the way they used to be underlined. the rule has not gone out of style, only out of fashion.
it ships with the patterns i kept reaching for in client work. case study templates that read like articles. process pages that list five steps instead of fifteen. an about page that fits on a single screen. nothing here is decorative.
