Quartz.
bento-grid portfolio with mixed media tiles.
asymmetric tiles, video loops, still photography, all in one layout. you decide what gets the big block.
notes from the workshop.
i held off on this one because bento grids became a meme. the meme is bad. the grid is good. quartz is what i wanted from the bento layouts everyone else shipped: actually editable, actually responsive, no js gymnastics.
every tile picks a span (one cell, two, four, six) and a media type. the layout solves itself with css grid. drag the order in the editor and the live page mirrors it.
video loops play silent by default and pause when off-screen, which is the polite default. still photography gets the same treatment as motion. you do not have to choose one. quartz is built to mix them in the same page without it looking like a moodboard.
licenses, plain.
every license size Quartz ships with. pick the seat that fits the use. you can move up later, you cannot move down.
